Biography

Laura's musical formation began in Klagenfurt, Austria, where she completed both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Classical Singing at the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik, earning suma cum laude honors in both. Seeking to deepen her specialization in historical performance, she went on to pursue a Master's in Historical Singing at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona, studying under the celebrated soprano and pedagogue Prof. Marta Almajano, graduating matrícula de honor.
This training has shaped a career that moves fluidly between ensemble and solo work, sacred and secular repertoire, and stages across Central Europe and Spain. During her years in Klagenfurt, Laura sang with the Stadtheater Klagenfurt choir and the choir of Klagenfurt Cathedral, where she specialized in the cantatas of Bach and Buxtehude, and performed chamber music with Another Ravel Quartett. Earlier still, she appeared as a soloist with the Crescendo Youth Symphony Orchestra in her native Slovenia.
Since relocating to Tenerife in 2023, Laura has become an active presence in the island's musical life, singing with Numen Ensemble, the resident chorus of Ópera de Tenerife (Intermezzo), and Quarteto en Femenino, while also lending her voice to the BigBand Jazztamus, a testament to the versatility that underpins her early music specialism. She continues to perform in Barcelona as well, as a member of Saüc Ensemble, and was selected for the Ton Koopman Academy in 2024/2025, working directly with one of the most influential figures in historically informed performance.
On stage, Laura's roles span the breadth of her repertoire: Pamina in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Galatea in Literes' Baroque Acis y Galatea, Taumännchen and Sandmännchen in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, El Niño in Villa-Lobos' Yerma, and Mujer in Parera's María Moliner.
Her artistry has been recognized on the international competition stage, including a 2nd Prize at the Lav Mirski International Singing Competition in Croatia (2021), and finalist placements at the ArteDea Chamber Music Competition in Klagenfurt (2022) and the María Orán Competition in Tenerife (2023). She has furthered her artistic development through masterclasses with María Cristina Kiehr, Ulrike Hofbauer, Annemarie Dragosits, Olalla Alemán, Maria Pimienta, Andreas Lebeda, Breda Zakotnik, Johannes Effertz-Wolf, Francka Šenk, and Furio Zanasi.
Fluent in Slovenian and Croatian, with advanced proficiency in German, English, and Spanish, Laura moves easily between the musical and linguistic traditions of the repertoire she performs, an asset that has become central to her interpretive voice as an early music specialist.
